I pee poo. You pee poo. Everyone pee poos. But not everyone has the luxury of the basic toilet and other sanitation needs which is why the Pee Poo Bag was invented. Eco-luxury or necessity? Let us know your thoughts.

Today more than 2,6 billion of people have no access to basic sanitation. That means 40 out of 100 people lack even the most basic toilets to perform their daily needs. The lack of toilets affects both society and the individual through the contamination of fresh water and ground water. Human faeces contain viruses, bacteria, worms and parasites which kill and infect people with serious diseases. One child dies every 15 seconds due to contaminated water.
Established in 2002, the Un Millenium Development Goal 7 Target 10 was set up to halve by 2015 the proportion of people without sustainable access to drinking water and sanitation. In actual figures, that accounts for 1.3 billion within 13 years. Unfortunately, the progress towards this goal has been slow. One major factor is the rapid increase in people living in slums or slum-like conditions.*
Only 7 years are left until the deadline.
It is obvious that major change is needed in order to accelerate sanitation coverage. Business as usual no longer is the way forward. We have to Rethink Sanitation.*
Start at the source
The most obvious solution is to start at the source. Prevent disease transmission through rapid inactivation of pathogens directly after defecation. In high density urban areas, this means providing sustainable toilets.
Offering a choice
At the same time most of those who need sanitation are poor and can ill afford clean toilets and have no other choice than to use what is ready available. By offering a choice and developing an extremely low-cost product, we can provide an alternative for the poor.
Economically sustainable
Most toilets are part of a larger infrastructure and dependent on substantial investment and sometimes require even institutional changes. We must rethink a soft approach that can be rapidly implemented. Similarly, all solutions must be designed to enable the growth of economical sustainable service systems over a longer timeframe.
The Peepoo bag comes in the form of a slim elongated bag size 14 x 38 cm with a thin interior urea-coated lining that measures 26 x 24 cm. Without sacrificing ergonomic function the bag’s design is adapted in every way so that it might be manufactured as low a price item and sold to groups with weakest purchasing power in the world. The Peepoo bag is easy to carry and easy to use. It doesn´t need any supporting structure, but is convenient when used with a cut PET-bottle.
