Melinda Looi Launches Organic Basics Brand

Kuala Lumpur, – Melinda Looi, leading Malaysian fashion designer, is making a strategic addition to her product portfolio by entering the basic category. When her latest range of fashion ‘must-haves’ such as, basic tanks & tees hit the stores, the benefits of organic cotton will be felt and understood by all.
Melinda Looi’s new brand ‘Mell Basics’ is designed to set itself apart from the rest; it also defines the designer’s goal to create a basic line without compromise: using natural materials, biodegradable colour dyes and three Swarovski crystals that form the MB logo; adding a touch of sparkle to it.
The MB concept is to make designer luxury democratic and accessible, with an emphasis on quality, which also means that the products are to be manufactured in ways that are environmentally and socially sustainable. The designer works closely with her suppliers to develop a long-term, sustainable social and environmental standard throughout the manufacturing process. These manufacturers have been independently tested by the Institute of the International Oeko-Tex® Association. Founded in 1992 in Switzerland, the institute tests for harmful substances according to Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 and certifies that products pose no health risk.
Starting from just RM 39.00, one can take home the MB products of top quality.
“It is not just an organic top, it’s an experience that will feel good on your skin and your conscience”, says Melinda Looi about her latest creation. “Even the packaging is made out of recycled paper which is in-itself 100% recyclable.”
The Mell basics range includes items like tees, tanks, turtle-necks and more. All styles come in 10 colours and will be available at selected Parkson stores within the Klang Valley area and Penang for the first year. However, plans for expansion will ensure that the ‘Mell Basics’ organic basic tops are available worldwide.
