Q: What is Zeco about?
A: Zeco stands for “Zero Emissions Company”, and we strive for transportation with zero green house gases. Therefore we import the cleanest alternative vehicle technology, electric vehicles powered by clean energy.
Q: Why are electric vehicles cleaner than petrol vehicles?
A: Electric engines are up to four times more efficient than combustion engines, and produce no tailpipe pollution, no noise pollution and no grease stains associated with many petrol-powered two-wheelers.
Q: Why did you decide to bring in electric vehicles to Singapore?
A: Singapore is a self contained urban area and perfect with its limited top speed and range. Most electric vehicles can easily manage the daily mileage of 50km per day of commuters, making them a clean and cost efficient mean of transportation for most Singaporeans.
Q: Tell us more about the E-Max scooters
A: The German engineered E-Max scooters combine great Italian design with proven German technology and are perfect for lifestyle conscious consumers. Road-proven, they can be found in many countries and are the first choice of environmentally friendly consumers.
Q: What is the range of the scooters and how do you charge them?
A: The scooters come in two models and having a range of 60 km and 90 km respectively between charges. Similar to a cell phone or laptop, the scooters can be plugged into any standard main socket for up to 3 hours before you hit the road again.
Q: Are all electric two wheelers excluded from highways?
A: Yes, unrelated to speed or brand, all motorcycles propelled by electric motors are excluded from express ways. This regulation will be reviewed after one year, and I am confident that we can than import our faster scooters by then.
Q: What is the cost difference between electric vehicles and petrol vehicles?
A: Currently, consumers still face a higher up front cost for electric cars caused by their more expensive batteries. But electric motorcycles are comparable pricewise, and the operational cost of just $60 per year makes it very attractive in the long run.
Q: What do you expect for the future development of electric vehicles in Singapore?
A: Singapore is well positioned to become one of the leading EV Hotspots in the world. I foresee many more electric vehicles coming to market within the next few months, and I’m confident that Singaporeans will go green as soon as more choices are available.
