Inaugural Gardeners Cup awarded to community gardening group

A garden nurtured to provide the ingredients for Peranakan cooking has cinched the Gardeners Cup at this years Singapore Garden Festival. The winning team beat seven other teams with its fragrant garden that has plants commonly found in Peranakan dishes – from pandan to lime leaves.

Avid gardeners to showcase works in first Gardener’s Cup in July

No mean feat considering how few people have gardens of their own.

Gardening appears to be catching on among Singaporeans. The National Parks Board says about 50 new gardening groups are formed every year.
To ride on this growing interest, the Singapore Garden Festival is giving gardening groups a platform to showcase their works for the first time.

Eight teams will vie for a new local championship, called the Gardener’s Cup.

They have been flexing their green fingers for eight months, and they have turned gardening into a science, art and passion.
