The Straits Times reports on KTPH’s greenery. One would’ve thought they’d get “a little bit of” Goodwood Park Hotel instead. :)
There is a little bit of Shangri-La Hotel in the new Khoo Teck Puat Hospital KTPH in Yishun. The luxury hotel near Orchard Road boasts lush gardens with ponds, a waterfall and plenty of plants in some of the rooms balconies. The hospital has similar green features. The gardens at the hotel are so lovely, I copied them for the hospital, says Mr Liak Teng Lit, chief executive of Alexandra Health group, which runs KTPH.A 550 sq m garden that was inspired by the hotels can be found in Basement One of the hospital where the operational support services are. Butterflies flit around it and a pair of birds has begun building a nest among the greens, too.

Butterfly Trail launched on Orchard Road

The Butterfly Trail at Orchard, a project by NParks, STB, Orchard Road Business Association and Nature Society Singapore (NSS), was launched yesterday afternoon by Prof. Tommy Koh.
Worth taking a look to remind ourselves that Orchard Road’s not just about shopping. Now you can augment your GSS with some nature!
Most visitors to Singapore are unaware of just how gorgeous and varied nature is along Orchard Road. An encounter with a delicate butterfly, a beautiful tropical blossom, colourful birds or even a phalanx of voracious caterpillars feeding on their preferred food plant can make a visit to Orchard Road more than just memorable, but magical. We hope that this Trail will ensure that more such encounters with Nature’s magic will be possible for visitors to Singapore and for residents for years and years to come.
