Both energy and climate change issues have emerged as key policy priorities in many countries. Amidst this backdrop, governments, corporations, and other stakeholders everywhere are grappling with more sustainable energy policy solutions. This essentially means trying to balance between three often competing ends, getting energy that is priced competitively, from diversified sources, and in an environmentally sustainable manner. While there is no single, immediate solution to the trilemma, improvements in technology can reduce the extent of the trade-offs required.
The Singapore Energy Summit will examine the driving forces, key uncertainties, and prime movers that will shape the needs and opportunities inherent in the future trade-offs that Asia-Pacific may adopt. Topics to be discussed include key trends in technological developments across the energy spectrum – conventional fossil fuels, and clean and renewable energy. The opportunities and challenges in financing the deployment and utilization of these technologies will also be examined.
Join us at the Singapore Energy Summit (SES) on 1 November 2010 as key regional energy ministers, academics and industry practitioners address the theme “Fuelling the Smart Energy Economy”. In particular, key regional energy ministers will discuss actions that countries can take to spur the transition to a smart energy economy. The SES is part of the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) from 27 October to 4 November 2010. Other key conferences and exhibitions that will take place during the week include Power-Gen Asia, Carbon Forum Asia and the Clean Energy Expo Asia, which together are expected to bring in over 10,000 delegates.
